Meet Dr. Tony Cucalon, DDS, MS
Since 1985, Dr. Cucalon has been in private practice serving families and individuals in San Francisco. Following in the footsteps of his father (who practiced orthodontics in San Francisco from 1974–1990), Dr. Cucalon is known for his integrity and honesty, his love of his community and his great sense of humor.
Dr. Cucalon is a leading expert in Orthodontics with over 30 years experience in the Dental Specialty of Orthodontics in the diagnosis, treatment and correction of dental irregularities of the mouth and face. His expertise includes, but is not limited to, the correction of overjets, overbites, and underbites. With proper treatment, which sometimes includes expansion, we are able to treat and eliminate crowding, closure of spaces, and prevent the need for permanent tooth extractions and thereby correct skeletal jaw discrepancies. His treatment appliances include braces, invisalign, a combination of both, and other removable and permanent appliances.
Sometimes called Dr. Tony, or Dr. T by his patients and staff, has been married to his beautiful wife, Mardi for twenty-five years. He has two wonderful sons, AJ and Connor. AJ is a recent graduate of the University of San Francisco and is an elementary school teacher. Brother, Connor is also a recent graduate of Vassar College in New York where he studied Political Science and currently lives in the East Coast. Oh yeah, can't forget their family Standard Poodle, Hobson. You may run into him from time to time in the office!
If you want to talk about San Francisco High Schools, that's great, not a problem, but realize it is going to be one sided since Dr. Cucalon’s Alma Mater is St. Ignatius. We can leave it at that! He loves all sports, but is especially fond of Baseball including Little League which he coached and/or managed for seven years.
A graduate of the University of the Pacific and Washington University in St. Louis, Dr. Cucalon is among a small percentage of orthodontists Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. In 1996, Dr. Cucalon was awarded the prestigious lifetime Diplomate status.
In 2010, Dr. Cucalon became President of the California Association of Orthodontists (CAO), which is comprised of approximately 1,400 California member orthodontists, making up about 90% of all practicing orthodontists in the state of California.
